A $500 loan and the elderly Native American
An elderly Native American guy goes to his neighbourhood bank and begs to speak with the loan officer because he needs to borrow $500.
The banker greets him and instructs him to fill out a loan application. He then starts questioning the senior citizen while pulling a loan application out of his desk drawer.
He asks the man, "So, what are you going to do with the money?"
The man advised, "Buy silver, fashion jewellery, then market it."
The banker enquired, "And what have you got for collateral?"
Don't know collateral," the elderly man said
.Well, that is something valuable you provide us to cover the cost of the loan if you are unable to make payments, the banker added. Have you got any vehicles, for instance?"
Yes, a 1979 Chevy truck, the old man said.
The banker shook his head and said, "I'm afraid that won't work. What about animals?
Yes, I do own a horse, the old guy said.
The banker said, "How old is it?"
Don't know, has no teeth," the elderly man replies.
This conversation continued for a while before the banker ultimately agreed to lend the old man $500.
The elderly man goes back to the bank many weeks later.
He adds, "Here to pay," pulling out a big roll of $100 dollars from his pocket.
Then, as payment for the loan, he gives the banker $500 in $100 bills.
The banker reports that "I can tell business has been good." What will you do with the remainder of that cash?
The old man said, "Keep it near me."
The banker asked, "Why don't you just put it in my bank?"
Don't know deposit," the elderly man said.
You simply deposit the funds in our bank, and we will take care of the rest. You can withdraw it whenever you wish to utilise it, the bank employee said.
What you got for collateral, the elderly Native American asks as he leans over the desk to look the banker in the eye.
