petar Brzica
jasenovac concentration camp
Petar Brzica, also known as "Pero" Brzica, was a Croatian Franciscan involved in heinous acts during the Ustaše regime. In 1942, he infamously won a killing competition at Jasenovac concentration camp, allegedly slitting the throats of 1,360 prisoners with a gruesome knife called "Srbosjek." After World War II, Brzica emigrated to the United States, eluding Yugoslav authorities. Some debate surrounds the accuracy of the reported numbers, with suggestions that the event was exaggerated by Yugoslav communists. Despite being on a list submitted by the Jewish Organization in 1970, Brzica remained undetected and was never apprehended by authorities
