Who does God help?

When you decide to be free, you overcome all obstacles because God is with you. God has created man free and He is always the helper of free intentions.

In Christiana, Pennsylvania, 1851, a group of African Americans and whites tried to capture runaway Maryland slaves. But the slaves decided to fight back.  The 4 men, John Beard, Thomas Wilson, Alexander Scott and Edward Thompson, had escaped from slavery in their circle of Maryland relatives Gorsuch and had taken up residence in Lancaster County.  Warrants issued under the law, wealthy slaveholder Edward Gorsuch led a band of slave catchers in Lancaster County.  Hearing that they are at the farm of William Parker, an African American, they try to arrest the 4 boys.  When the posse arrived, Parker's wife, Eliza, honked to summon sympathetic neighbors.

A fight ensued, and the elder Gorsuch was killed and his son wounded.  The 4 boys and the Parkers escaped to Canada, but the government arrested 38 others, including 4 white Quakers.  All have been charged with treason.  The first man on trial turned out to be one of those Quakers, Castner Hanway, who was accidentally turned into a leader.  The jury acquitted Hanway, and the government launched 37 adversaries.  In Canada, Parker continued his abolitionist activities, and became a correspondent for a newspaper owned by Frederick Douglass.
