Russia-Ukrain war

Top Russian officials discreetly contact the West to stop the invasion of Ukrai

In an effort to assist in putting an end to th fighting in Ukraine, a senior Kremlin official is said to have met with Western diplomats and intelligence leaders.

Many members of Moscow's elite, according to a source who spoke to Mail Online, are extremely worried about the direction Russian President Vladimir Putin is taking his country's invasion into the neighbouring country and are alarmed by the bite of the extensive sanctions imposed by the West in retaliation.

A member of Putin's closest circle "gave a signal about the will to negotiate," according to a document that The Mirror claims was sent to Western intelligence agencies

Putin's goals may have been foiled by a top official in Moscow, however it is uncertain who they were; yet, the document allegedly referred to the insider as a "pillar of the government" in Russia.

A diplomatic source in Ukraine claims that it would not come as a surprise if senior Kremlin officials were secretly attempting to interact with Western intelligence agencies.

As was the case in the closing stages of the Second World War, the source claims that officials on a side who are concerned about their future frequently work to ensure it.
